Care and Mantenance
Your FRED jewel has been designed according to the strictest requirements and has been the subject of careful care and rigorous controls at all stages of its manufacture. In order to preserve its beauty and brilliance over time, and to slow down the natural deterioration of your jewelry, we recommend that you follow the following instructions for use and care on a daily basis.

When you are not wearing it, it is preferable to store your jewel in its original case or pouch, avoiding contact with other pieces of jewelry to protect it from any friction, impact or scratching. In the case of a chain, we advise you to close it and place it flat to avoid the formation of knots.
When wearing your jewelry, take care to handle it with care to avoid knocks and falls. We therefore recommend that you remove your jewelry for your sports activities or any manual work.
Also avoid contact with water, especially salt water, sand, cosmetics, perfumes, detergents and all corrosive products that could irreparably damage precious metals, stones and pearls.
Intense heat sources and sudden temperature changes should also be avoided.
Finally, in the case of a solitaire or a Pain de Sucre ring, you must avoid removing your ring by pulling on the center stone or cabochon.
We recommend that you have the condition of your jewel checked regularly in a FRED shop or an authorized FRED retailer, especially if it is a set part, to ensure that the diamonds and stones are perfectly maintained. In the case of a solitaire, we recommend that you have the claws of your ring checked every four to five years and immediately in the event of an impact. For interchangeable creations (Pain de sucre, Force 10, Chance Infinie) we invite you to have your jewelry checked every year.
You can intensify the shine of your jewelry with a soft, dry fabric. If you wish to clean it, you can immerse your jewel in soapy water (neutral PH soap) and gently brush it with a soft brush to remove impurities, then rinse it with clean water and dry it thoroughly with a soft cloth.
This does not apply to jewelry with pearls or emeralds, you will find below specific care tips
Polishing and rhodium plating (coating with a layer of rhodium) in the case of white gold can restore a shine to your jewelry. However, it is recommended not to exceed two to three polish/rodhiages in the life of your jewel.
These polishing and rhodium plating services are not included in the FRED international guarantee.
Maison Fred offers you a wide range of interchangeable coloured cables for Force 10 and Chance Infinie bracelets. They are made of steel, rope (nylon) or leather. Coloured steel cables slip as they are worn, more or less quickly depending on the use of your jewelry and the color may change. This is a natural, inevitable and irreversible ageing process that cannot be covered by the guarantee. A cable whose color has changed cannot be recolored.
Whether the cables are made of steel, rope or leather, we recommend that you follow the same precautions as for any other FRED jewel to avoid accelerating their natural deterioration (see above).

The RJC is an international non-profit organization with more than 300 members working in a transparent manner to promote responsible ethical, social and environmental practices, while respecting human rights, throughout the jewelry sector, from extraction to the sales counter.
Committed, responsible and respectful of the Kimberly Process*, Maison Fred attaches attaches the highest importance to the origin of its diamonds. Its diamonds come from authorized legitimate sources not involved in the financing of armed conflicts and in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
*Kimberley Process
The Kimberley Process was initiated in 2000 by the UN, diamond producing states, the diamond industry and NGOs. Its objective is to ensure that no rough diamonds entering the world market are "conflict diamonds". Today, it has more than 80 countries, representing the vast majority of the players in the production and trade of rough diamonds.
In January 2003, a certification scheme, the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPSC), came into force: all rough diamonds must circulate in sealed containers and be accompanied by a numbered certificate of origin issued by the government authorities of the exporting country. https://www.kimberleyprocess.com
FRED selects the stones to be set on its creations according to strict requirements.
The use of certain treated stones such as black diamond, topaz, Swiss blue topaz, London blue topaz and turquoise, responds to an aesthetic desire, to a search for exceptional intensity of hue.
