90 years of optimism and faith in destiny

“I had always paid attention to signs, perhaps because of my childhood spent near the water, my daydreams of gemstones, and I had always been responsive to the world of signals and symbols, difficult to define in words and only perceptible through intuition.”  Fred Samuel, A Jeweller’s Memoirs, 1992

Seizing the opportunity and taking a chance. Always looking on the bright, sunny side of life. This is the path Fred Samuel followed. A natural optimist, the jeweler never lost faith in his destiny.

Driven by its founder’s philosophy for life, Maison FRED’s collections are punctuated with good-luck trinkets: from four-leaf clovers, tortoises, and elephants to golden ribbons tied to evoke a secret vow and sea-inspired knots with a subtle nod to the lemniscate. Like a playful allusion to destiny, the latter—the universal emblem of infinity—also rotates to form an eight, a number of great significance for the Maison. It was a recurring theme in Fred Samuel’s life: from the month and year of his birth to his age when he opened his first boutique (28), as well as the area he chose for its location—the eighth arrondissement of Paris.

These multiple meanings have turned this motif into an emblem and natural talisman for the Chance Infinie collection.
