Acquired by Henri Samuel, the founder’s son, the stone further established FRED’s place among the greatest jewelers in the world and affirmed its reputation as an expert in colored gemstones. Sold before it could even be set into jewelry, the Soleil d’Or disappeared, only to step back into the spotlight decades later: rediscovered by Valérie Samuel—vice president and artistic director of FRED, daughter of Henri, and granddaughter of Fred Samuel—the stone returned to the Maison in 2021. Such a twist of fate could only serve as inspiration to now round off the radiant Monsieur Fred trilogy by showcasing this extraordinary stone.
