It took a great deal of courage to launch his first business in 1936 when France was still feeling the aftershocks of a global economic crisis.

Although Fred Samuel hadn’t yet turned 30, he wasn’t afraid to take risks. Inspired by his family’s entrepreneurial spirit, he opened his first boutique at 6 Rue Royale in Paris, defying jewelry conventions of setting up shop on Place Vendôme.

Fred Samuel became a renowned specialist in pearls and earned a reputation for offering “the most beautiful collection of cultured pearls” in Paris.

He embraced this same bold approach when he had the words “Creative Modern Jeweler” engraved on his business cards.

He quickly established his pioneering vision of jewelry. Channeling a casual chic, genderless style and deeply rooted in life, he believed jewelry should brighten each day like a little burst of happiness.

Designed to be worn all the time, from everyday moments to special occasions, he created transformable jewelry from the 1930s onward.

The versatility of his creations soon became his hallmark signature, embodied by brooches that turned into pendants as well as tiaras and sets that could be transformed to suit his customers’ desires.

Following in Fred Samuel’s footsteps, the Maison continues to reimagine this jewelry in motion—capturing the present while transcending time itself.
