Our care advice

Your FRED jewel has been designed according to the strictest requirements and has been the subject of careful care and rigorous controls at all stages of its manufacture. In order to preserve its beauty and brilliance over time, and to slow down the natural deterioration of your jewelry, we recommend that you follow the following instructions for use and care on a daily basis.

Storage advice

When you are not wearing your jewelry, it is best to store it in its original case or pouch, avoiding contact with other pieces of jewelery to protect it from any rubbing, knocks or scratches.

In the case of a chain, we advise you to fasten it and lay it flat to prevent kinks and knots.

Use advice

In order to maintain the beauty and brilliance of your jewelry, always handle it with the utmost care.

Try to avoid knocks and drops, and always remove it during activities that could subject it to intense rubbing and friction.

Avoid contact with water (especially salt water), sand, cosmetics, perfumes, detergents and any corrosive products that could cause irreparable damage to the precious metals, gemstones and pearls. Similarly, sources of intense heat and sudden changes in temperature should be avoided.

For solitaire rings and Pain de Sucre rings, please ensure you never remove your ring by tugging on the central stone or cabochon.

We advise you to have your jewelry checked regularly in a FRED boutique or an authorized FRED retailer, particularly if your jewelery is set with gemstones, to ensure that the diamonds and gemstones are securely held in place.

In the case of a solitaire ring, we recommend that you have the prongs/claws of the setting checked every four to five years, and immediately in the event of a knock.

Regarding our interchangeable creations (Pain de Sucre, Force 10, and Chance Infinie), we recommend having your jewelry checked every year.

Caring for your jewelry

You can enhance the shine of your jewelry by rubbing it with a soft, dry cloth. If you wish to clean your jewelry, you can place it in soapy water (PH neutral soap) and gently clean it with a soft brush to remove any impurities, then rinse in clean water and dry carefully using a soft cloth. This advice does not apply to jewelry with pearls or emeralds; you will find specific care instructions below:

Care advice for Force 10 cable bracelets and Chance Infinie bracelets

Maison FRED offers a wide range of interchangeable colored cables for the Force 10 and Chance Infinie bracelets. The cables are made of steel or rope.

The colored steel cables will develop a patina, meaning the color will change as they are worn. How quickly this happens depends on how often you wear your jewelry. This is a natural, inevitable and irreversible aging process that is not covered by the warranty. A cable whose color has changed cannot be recolored.

Whether the cables are made of steel or nylon rope, we recommend that you follow the same precautions as for any other FRED jewelry to avoid accelerating normal wear and tear.
