The cut of the stone determines its brilliance and only a perfectly proportioned cut will intensify the diamond’s brilliance. To be able to always offer stones which meet this criterion for excellence, FRED works solely with master diamond cutters.

The number and size of inclusions present in the stone defines the diamond’s purity. Like most natural stones, nearly all diamonds contain some inclusions. A diamond is considered to be ”flawless” if it contains no visible flaws when magnified 10 times. FRED only accepts stones of exceptionally high quality, those with a minimum clarity between IF and VS2, which is the guarantee of an exceptional clarity and a lack of inclusions visible to the naked eye.

The whiter the diamond, the more valuable it becomes. Diamonds selected by FRED have a color classified exclusively between D and G.

A diamond’s unit of measure is the carat. A carat corresponds to 0,2 g. The weight, cut, color and purity together determine the diamond’s value. Only diamonds of 0,3 carat and above are certified.
